My Best Friends
Growing up, I have always had best friends by my side ever since the moment I was born. Their names were Chester and Bobo, a golden retriever and a chow-chow. My childhood memories consisted of walking them around the neighborhood along with another dog called Lv, a Yorkshire terrier my parents got for my sister and I in 2008.
Where I come from, dogs are not very welcome as it is a country where the majority of people are Muslim. I would just hope that one day, dogs would not be treated as vicious monsters that will bite anyone in plain sight. Although Chester and Bobo have left my side, Bella and Faye are now a part of the family. Bella is an 8 year old Labrador retriever while Faye is a 2 year old corgi. Below is a picture of Bella shaking her head after I blew into her ear and Faye at the edge of my bed right after she woke up.
I do not think my life would be complete without dogs. Dogs have always been there, wagging their tails for me whenever I have a hard time. Throughout history, they have always been referred to as "man's best friend" for a reason. No one else would stand by your side no matter what except for your dog.
One of my hobbies include walking my dogs but due to the pandemic, I am unfortunately unable to do it as often. Walking my dog is the only time I am able to be alone by myself, free from technological devices. I only walk my dogs around my neighborhood so it is quite safe but I still have to be alert because there are still quite a lot of Muslims who may be intimated by dogs.
